Adidas-Parley Eco Glasses
Tasked with designing in accordance with Adidas-Parley design language and ethos
I developed a product that benefits those who fit the collaboration's image the most:
Environmental clean-up volunteers
Goals:
-
Utilize sportswear as a catalyst for conscious ecological actions
-
Deliver emphatic form & function to aid performance via recycled materials
Product Plan:
Another broken pair? These frames are elastic & durable - via Carbon's DLS printing
Broad nose wrap for all nose types
UV Resistant
Features
Lens on sides & nose blocks light from all angles, on the water or land
Materials & Manufacturing
Multi-flex organic structure
Resin/Recycled Plastic Composite
Carbon DLS Printers
Recycled Clear
Plastic Bits
Recycled Material-DLS Printing Concept:
After clear plastics are retrieved & washed, they are to be ground into minuscule bits.
By using clear plastics, light can still reach through to the curable resin casting the ex-litter & potentially strengthening the form.

Recycling Optical PET:
Like all recycling, PET must be sorted & washed. This is essential so only clear & clean PET is processed.
Melt filtration (below) is used to remove further particles not washed out or removed. Decontamination methods like solid-state polymerization & vacuum extraction can also help this process.
Temperature, pressure & cooling rates effect the plastic's transparency & can be optimized.
Illustration via Erema Recycling
Due to material degradation & further processing, recycled PET will never be as transparent as virgin PET. To combat this, a percentage of virgin PET can be implemented into the lenses to reach optimal levels of transparency.
Recycling costs much more than producing single use components, disincentivizing their production. Despite additional cost needed for recycling infrastructure, Adidas-Parley customers would be willing to pay a premium for a conscious product, they helped supply.
75% prefer to recycle household waste
60% reduced virgin products bought (+20% - 2021)
40% prefer sustainable brands (+6% - 2021)

AI Glasses Ideation
While not every image generation is a viable glasses concept, wrong ideas lead to outside the box thinking;
hence the final form's wrapped lenses to shade sun from all angles.
